Who’s Running The Show?
Hi - I’m Mitchell Brockmann, the founder of Buying Freedom. As of this writing, I wear all the hats, but I hope that will quickly evolve as I have ambitious goals for this project.
I’ve spent my working life across all things finance, M&A, strategy covering a multitude of different sectors, deals of all shapes & sizes, playing throughout all parts of the cap table, and varying roles.
Most notably, I’ve done 5+ deals as an acquiror in both the corporate setting via my last W2 role at a Bain Capital-backed enterprise software firm + on my own as an entrepreneur.

Gold Playbook
Self-funded acquisition of a leading precious metals focused newsletter, with zero prior domain knowledge or operational expertise. 22 month payback period. Most importantly, allowed me to quit my W2 in July 2025 when I finally had enough.
Wealth Daily
Self-funded, highly synergistic financial newsletter. One of the worst mistakes of my professional career and undoubtedly the most detrimental to my self-confidence and identity. Wrote off & moved on at the end of March 2026. This deal taught me more about myself and M&A than anything else I have ever done professionally.
I started writing Buying Freedom to share my story and help others achieve true freedom through small business acquisition. Coming from an actual, disciplined M&A background I was baffled at the amount of bullshit going on in the retail, small business acquisition space. My mission is to fight against it and help others achieve what they’re actually seeking → Freedom.
